For sale is this incredible authentic shipwreck artifact! This beautiful piece of fine Asian pottery was recovered from the Hoi An Hoard (the Hoi An shipwreck). This bowl or jar is TINY! It almost looks like dollhouse sized. I am not sure what it could have been used for other than decor, spices, perfume, or something similar. The Hoi An wreck lies 22 miles of of the coast of Vietnam in the South China Sea. It was discovered by fisherman in the 1990’s, and slowly was salvaged. With water depths of 230 feet, it took years to recover the precious artifacts in it. The ship was carrying a large load of Vietnamese Ceramics from the early to mid 1400’s that were made in the kind of the Red River Delta. This piece was recovered by a team of archeologists the documented and processed the wreck. It is simplistic in design, with a white clay used as the medium, and blue dye used for the design. It was sold by the Vietnamese government at Butterfield’s Auction House in San Francisco, CA. This is an incredible authentic medieval aged shipwreck artifact. It comes with the original stickers from the auction with it, containing a catalogue number. When I got it, it was inside the small bag with the stickers on it. I took it out so I could photo and display it, but will include the bag so that you can have the stickers as provenance (this is the key to tracing/proving it’s authenticity). It is guaranteed authentic, and would make the perfect addition to any collection! Pieces like this can fetch $500-1500 at large auction houses!
